Lupercalia survived the initial rise of Christianity but was outlawed—as it was deemed “un-Christian”–at the end of the 5th century, when Pope Gelasius declared February 14 St. Valentine's Day. It was not until much later, however, that the day became definitively associated with love.

Q: Why do we celebrate Valentine's Day?
A: A pagan fertility ritual was held in February each year and the Pope abolished this festival and proclaimed 14 February Saint Valentine's Day, thus establishing this feast day on the Catholic Calendar of Saints. The poet Chaucer in the Middle Ages was the first to link St Valentine with romantic love.

Q: What is Valentine's Day mean?
A: It celebrates romantic love, making it a popular day for *couples* to *spend together* . Valentine's Day is traditionally associated with red hearts, romance, flowers, candy or other sweet things, and the exchange of cards, called valentines, that express love.

A: Valentine's Day is a time when people show feelings of love, affection and friendship. It is celebrated in many ways worldwide and falls on February 14 each year. Many people see Valentine's Day as a special day to express one's love for another.

Q: What does the Bible say about Valentine?
A: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13, Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

Q: What is the essence of Valentine?
A: The Essence of Valentine's Day is a day for loving . Loving means sharing. Valentine's Day is a day for sharing our care with our loved ones, friends, enemies or foes. God's lowest brethren and others.


Q: Is Valentine only for lovers?
A: Generally, we consider Valentine's Day as lover's day or a day only meant for those who are in love. But, this is not true, anyone and everyone can celebrate this beautiful day in their own ways. Even there are people who don't like idea of Valentine's Day.

A: Don't let Valentine's Day be only an annual show of your love and affection. Do that all year round. You'll have a much happier, healthier relationship if your actions and words convey your love, care, respect, lust, and genuine friendship every day. Valentine's Day is to a large extent a “Hallmark” holiday.

Q: Is Valentine Day a religious celebration?
A: Originating as a Western Christian feast day honoring one or two early saints named Valentinus , Valentine's Day is recognized as a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and romantic love in many regions around the world.
